Global Challenges Index

The Global Challenges Index was initiated by BÖAG Börsen AG, the parent company operating the stock exchanges in Hamburg and Hanover. The Hanover stock exchange commissioned oekom research AG to develop the concept for the Global Challenges Index and to compile the Index universe. The Global Challenges Index is a real innovation on the financial market. For the first time, it maps out trends in the model of sustainable development consistently and intelligibly in an index. Sustainability-oriented investors will profit from the Global Challenges Index, which

Aufzählung

defines “sustainability” in concrete terms by focusing on seven future-relevant fields for action,

Aufzählung

sets stringent and consistent performance criteria for the companies listed and

identifies pioneering companies that make active use of the opportunities provided by global change.

The Global Challenges Index was launched and presented to the public Hamburg and Hanover September 3rd, 2007.

Deutschland Ethik 30 Aktienindex

The Deutschland Ethik 30 equity index comprises 30 companies recruited basically from the ranks of the German Stock Exchange’s major indexes, the DAX, the MDAX and the TecDAX. The companies selected for the new index have to meet stringent ethical selection criteria. In this way, it is possible to exclude companies which make their money through e.g. arms production, nuclear power, gambling or agricultural genetic engineering, or which are involved in controversies relating to labour rights and human rights. oekom research continuously monitors compliance with these and other exclusion criteria. In addition, all the companies have to achieve oekom Prime Status.

Assistance with the selection of suitable companies is provided by an ethical advisory board comprising Father Anselm Grün from Münsterschwarzbach Abbey, Bernd Jünemann from the Archdiocese of Berlin, Dr. Andreas Kretschmer from the Ärzteversorgung Westfalen-Lippe pension fund and Prof. Richard Raatzsch from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel. The ethics advisory board can selectively strengthen the specified investment criteria, but on no account dilute them.

Finvex Ethical & Efficient Europe 30

In collaboration with oekom research, the Brussels-based Finvex Group has launched the Finvex Ethical & Efficient Europe 30 sustainability index. The index comprises a total of 30 European companies, which, in a two-stage process, are selected from the largest European companies by market capitalization. In the first stage, oekom research identifies those companies which, based on its analyses, are amongst the companies operating most sustainably in their industries and have therefore been awarded oekom Prime Status. The companies must also meet stringent exclusion criteria.

In the second stage, Finvex analyses the liquidity and risk of the equities selected in this way. Using a model developed by Finvex and already tried out by other indexes, it examines aspects such as their volatility and possible correlation risks. At the beginning of each month, the composition of the index is reviewed in this way.
